Obtaining access to medical records in Spain is not straightforward and it often depends on the willingness and cooperation received from the individual healthcare provider who may hold these records. Strict changes to Data Protection laws in recent years have made the process even more cumbersome and rigid. The records are disclosed in Spanish and we will assist you to ensure that you understand the treatment that was provided to your client despite the language barrier.

  • Liaising with your client (if so instructed) and the relevant healthcare providers for the preparation of the necessary paperwork as required by Spanish Data Protection laws;
  • Corresponding and obtaining copies of all medical records from the relevant healthcare provider(s);
  • Collating all medical records received placing them in chronological order within specified sections;
  • Identifying and removing duplicate records;
  • Re-copying double sided copies to single sided;
  • Paginating each page;
  • Preparation of a comprehensive typed index for inclusion in each lever arch file;
  • ​Preparing a detailed chronology in English highlighting key events with references to the relevant pages in your bundle;
  • Updating you throughout with the progress of our instruction;
  • Providing you with ongoing advice to assist you in your review of foreign medical records and answering any questions you may have about the content or interpretation of the same;
